Description of Product: The Portfolio of Quality Educational Web Resources assignment is intended to expand your horizons and at the same time allow you to spend the time and effort to find quality educational Web resources for your classroom. Relevant is a key word for this assignment and you are the one who determines relevant. Find quality Web resources that are relevant for you and your instructional responsibilities. (Note: A common complaint among teachers is they don't have time to search the Web for material - this assignment is intended to give you that time.) How do I keep track of all these quality resources? That’s always a good question and people have gone through many personal transitions from having them bookmarked (or in favorites), on sheets of paper in a folder, on index cards, in a Word document, on a Website (where they created the Web pages), and most recently, using wikis and social bookmarking sites! For this course, you will use a social bookmarking site to record all of your Web resources! We will categorize our Web resources by topic, and the most important part for identifying bookmarks by topic on a social bookmarking site is the concept of tags.
Process of Selecting Categories: Since I am involved in many aspects of education in my current position, I looked for resources that would help in all areas; student achievement, parent involvement and teacher quality. Additionally, I am always searching for ways to make my own lessons more engaging and relevant for my students. I think the categories will help me keep these resources organized in a way that will save time and make accessing my bookmarks much easier. Gone is the long list of websites with no explanation that required me to spend lots of time clicking on each site, looking for what I needed.

Reflection:
I really enjoyed learning about the online bookmarking site. I have a computer that I use primarily when I'm at work and my personal computer that I use at home. I find the idea of saving my bookmarks to one site and being able to access them from both places really convenient. The site was fairly simple to use and very easy to access. I also thought that it would be great to share websites with others. I work with quite a few first year teachers and I find myself sending them urls quite often. It would be good to be able to upload to a site and then they could visit whenever they wanted to. I definitely plan to maintain this site and continue to use it. Recently I had some problems with my PC and had to buy a new computer. I thought I wasn't going to be able to get all of my bookmarks off of my old computer and was very, very glad that I had already put many of them on my delicious page. I have recommended this site to quite a few friends and colleagues and I hope they find it as useful as I do.
